"Cari amici del Lions International,
il nostro Distretto vi dà il benvenuto.
Sta per concludersi il secolo più tragico, più carico di sofferenze e di lutti, nella storia
dell'umanità.
Noi Lions siamo consapevoli del fatto che troppi esseri umani sono privi dell'essenziale, che a troppi non sono
garantite le condizioni minime di una dignitosa sopravvivenza, mentre altrove, spesso, il godimento del superfluo
è percepito come cosa dovuta. Perciò noi, singolarmente ed insieme, ognuno nell'ambito
delle proprie capacità e possibilità, aiutiamo chi ha bisogno, in un comune sforzo volto a
costruire la pace e la giustizia, animati in ciò da un profondo sentimento di rispetto e di amicizia.
Che siate soci Lions o no, vi invitiamo ad unirvi a noi in questo sforzo, ed a condividerne gli scopi."

"Liebe Freunde des Lions International,
unser Distrikt heisst Sie herzlich willkommen.
Wir stehen vor dem Ende des tragischsten Jahrhunderts in der Menschengeschichte, ein Jahrhundert das fast ausschliesslich
Leiden und Trauer hinter sich lässt.
Wir Lions sind davon bewusst, dass zu viele unserer Mitmenschen sich des Notwendigsten entbehren müssen, und
ihnen kaum ein würdiges Leben zuteil wurde, während andere in Hülle und - Fülle mit
Selbstverständlichkeit Überflüssiges geniessen. Deshalb tun wir, jederseinen Möglichkeiten
und Fähigkeiten angemessen, unser bestes um den Mitmenschen in Not zu helfen, Frieden und Gerechtigkeit
aufzubauen. Respekt und Freundschaft, die unser tägliches Tun rechtferfigen, sind stets der Massstab unseres
Handeins.
Seien Sie Mitglieder des Lions International oder nicht, wir ersuchen Sie, Ihre Kräfte mit den unseren
in dieser Aufgabe zu vereinen, um diese Ziele gemeinsam zu erreichen."

our District extends our heartfelt welcome to all of you.
We are approaching the end of the most tragic century in the history of mankind, and it leaves us mostly with
memories of sufferings, pain and mourning. We, as members of Lions International, and each of us personally, do
everything in our power and ability to help improve life conditions of our fellow brethren who are in need of
something that is obvious and superfluous to us. We promote peace and justice and we do it with a feeling of our
customary deep respect and friendship.
Whether you are Lions International members or not, we ask you to join us in our effortand to share our goals."
